Letter From The President
NIAFPD President Ronald Kubicki
Hello again everyone. I hope you are enjoying this very wet spring and summer. I know that your minds are on backyard barbecues, summer vacations and spending time with your families. So I won't take a lot of your time with a long letter. I just wanted to thank Chuck Vaughn on a great job he did for us down in Springfield. Chuck worked very hard on our behalf, and accomplished a great deal. Please read Chuck’s article to get the full scope of the bills that were passed to help us do our jobs. Thanks Chuck.

I know a large number of you have finished the Trustee's Training Program offered by the Illinois Association of Fire Protection District and The Northern Alliance. I am sure you found them very helpful in your positions as trustees and will be able to use the information for years to come. For those of you that still need to complete your training remember that we will be offering 2 of them again in the fall, Part 3 (Personnel and Human Resources) will be offered on Saturday, September 12, at the Deerfield Fire Protection District. And Part 1 (Organization and Administration of Fire Protection District) will be offered on Saturday, October 17, at the Frankfort Fire Protection District. Please contact Kathy if you still need to register.

Just a brief note to let you know that our Legislative Day back on April 22 in Springfield went great and was very well attended on both sides, Fire personnel and also by legislators. Thanks to all that work so hard on it. With your participation next year it will even be better.

As always, if you should have any questions about the NIAFPD or if maybe you would like to write an article for the Fire Guard or if you just need to find out more about the Fire Service please don't hesitate to call Kathy Haage or myself and we will try our best to help you. Also don't forget to check out our web site www.niafpd.org. Have a great Summer and I will talk to you again in the fall.

Ronald P. Kubicki
President, Northern Illinois Alliance of Fire Protection Districts
